Lake Balaton

As Central Europe's largest freshwater lake, the "Hungarian Sea" lies in the middle of Transdanubia. The northern shore is known for its historic towns, ancient castles, vineyards, underwater caves and the volcanic hills of the Balaton Uplands, while the flat southern shore is famous for its shallow water beaches, thermal spas and resort towns.

Watersports and Activities

The shallow and warm water is perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, paddle boating, wakeboarding, rowing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and more. You can rent a boat or yacht for yourself, hop on a passenger ferry, participate the prestigious Blue Ribbon Sailing Race or swim across the lake! What is more, there are adventure parks, golf courses, a roller coaster on the shore, you can even cycle the lake around or go ice skating on the frozen lake in winter.
