Transdanubia

The "land beyond the Danube" takes roughly about the half of Hungary, including mountains, hills, valleys, plains, rivers and lakes. Populated since the Stone Age, the region was also part of the Roman Empire as Province of Pannonia. Transdanubia is known for its industrial cities, castle ruins, historical heritage sites, world-famous wineries, cultural centres, nature reserves and national parks.
